Prohibited Items

What must never be sent through CarriBag.

Draft — requires review by qualified Indian legal counsel before launch. This is not legal advice.

The rule behind the list

If the traveller cannot see what is inside, it cannot be carried. Everything else follows from that.

The list below is conservative on purpose and is broader than the legal minimum. It will be reviewed by counsel and may get longer, not shorter.

Never allowed

  • Cash, gold, precious metals and jewellery.
  • Drugs and illegal substances of any kind.
  • Weapons, ammunition, explosives and fireworks.
  • Flammable liquids and gases, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Alcohol, tobacco and nicotine products.
  • Medicines without a prescription or the papers that go with them.
  • Live animals and perishable food.
  • Anything illegal to possess or to move between the two places.
  • Anything the traveller’s train, bus or airline does not allow.
  • Anything whose contents cannot be shown to the traveller.

Usually allowed

  • Documents — papers, files, certificates.
  • Keys.
  • Small packaged personal items that can be shown.
  • Other legal items CarriBag has approved for that route.

Route and operator rules

Rules vary by route and travel method. Air travel is not available on CarriBag at all right now: airline and airport security rules for carrying another person’s item are strict and different from a train or a bus, and we will not open flights until that has been reviewed properly.

If you are asked to carry something on this list

Refuse, and report it from the trip or chat screen. Refusing for a safety reason does not affect your standing on CarriBag.
